RE:       Weekly Update

Today, Queen of Peace Academy celebrates the Feast of the Queenship of Mary (actual date is August 22nd).  Today we began a new tradition of a school-wide, living, moving Rosary.  What an awesome sight it was as we all gathered in the courtyard circling the fountain!  The PreK led us in the Sign of the Cross prior to the singing of “We Believe”.  All eyes were focused on the small statue of Mary as our voices soared heavenward.  Mary, then, traveled from room to room for the students to pray their assigned portion of the Rosary.  At the conclusion, two of our Eighth Graders crowned her in our Mary courtyard.

What a truly awesome experience this was as the love for Mary, the mother of Jesus, was portrayed in the eyes, the voices, the silence, the peace of classroom after classroom.  Our students really love her!  And she loves them!   It will not be a surprise at all, if today, the children at the Academy receive a special gift from her.

How grateful we all are for the love that you, our parents, have shared with your children.  It is your own devotion to Mary that was first passed on to your children.  It is your continuing devotion that nurtures theirs and fills their eyes with the great love we all experienced this day.  Mary, who deeply cherished her Son, raised Him in faith, taught Him respect and care for all of creation – it is this Mary who smiles on us each day as if we were her own.

Happy Feast of the Queenship of Mary!  Consider doing something special today or tomorrow to honor her.  You will be glad you did!

We Believe
