RE: Weekly Update
This morning a First Grader arrived in car drop off with his face downcast. Following some prodding, he reluctantly got out of the car and started into the building. His usual happy face was not there nor was his cheery morning greeting or the story which is always shared. A member of the Faculty followed him into the hallway - wanting to warn the teacher. Noticing that the student was going in the wrong direction, she questioned him. He responded “I am going to Mrs. Smitherman (a Kindergarten assistant) because I need a hug.” Into the room he went, got his hug and a smile lighted up his face as he proclaimed that he was ready to begin his day.
Probably we all have heard that we learn all we need for life while we are in Kindergarten. This young man knew what he needed and went about getting it. How very simple was his solution to a morning which had not begun as he would have wanted. Couldn’t we all gather great insight from this? We, adults, examine, ponder and evaluate the events in our lives that are upside down. We talk, we research and we wait and wait and wait. Sometimes we even spend money to assist us in making an informed decision which will make us happy. And just, maybe, the solution is getting a hug from someone we love.
Isn’t it great that God puts people in our lives that do and say just the right thing when we are most in need? Without doubt, those people are among us every day. They are our spouses, our children, our friends, our co-workers. Each of us has the Spirit of God within; each of us has all that we need to cheer another, to listen, to respond. How gifted and blessed we are! This Faith Community has been deeply empowered with the dedication and love of so many who are faithful to strengthening and deepening their relationship with God. Thank you for being a vital part of this Community!
