RE: Weekly Update
This week we began, in earnest, to break open our theme for this year, “We Believe”. Using the Nicene Creed as our basis, the month of September will be devoted to a focus on God, our Creator. It is very easy to take for granted the beauty of our surroundings. It can become what we expect and when our expectations are not met, it may be cause for disappointment, distress and upset feelings. Why is it raining everyday? Will the humidity ever drop? Why does the lawn look unkempt? What is eating at the vegetation? Why are the children so grouchy? It can go on and on.
This month the students have been challenged to be positive and grateful – to listen for the sound of the rain, to watch for a rainbow, to savor the taste of lunch, to be amazed at the students’ great answers. God is so good to us! How right it is to give God praise and thanks! A grateful heart is a wonderful gift to everyone. How powerful and transforming it is to hear someone express the goodness of God in words of gratitude! It not only serves as a reminder, but it lifts spirits and generates smiles.
So, be challenged! Look around at all the magnificent forms of creations and truly “see them” in a new way. Don’t just look, but listen and speak. Be a catalyst for spreading words of praise and gratitude to God who placed us in this beautiful world and gave us one another.
