MEMORANDUM

TO:       Parents of Queen of Peace Catholic Academy
FROM:  Sister Nancy Elder, IHM

RE:       Weekly Update

Our first Friends of QPA Breakfast for this school year was a huge success!  Once again the culinary arts of the parents blended with the musical talent of the students and the warm hospitality of our students to provide a wonderful event.  How blessed we are in all of you!  The food was delicious, the audience was superb, the students were outstanding!  Among the many voiced compliments, were words such as, “reverence”, “gracious”, “calm”, “talented”, “hospitable”.

This is a perfect example of the blessings which come as a result of a deep relationship with God.  This is what happens when one places ones self in God’s Hands each day.  This is the realm of possibility when God is the center and Jesus is the model.  No one can mistake the look and feel of someone in love with the Creator.  No one can deny the realm of the believable.

Queen of Peace Academy is truly a place where God is present.  Everywhere one turns, the Spirit is alive enlightening, loving and challenging.  All around us are the fruits of God relationships – those fruits which bring out the best, and a willingness to be of service.  We are gifted beyond the believable.  We are a treasure recognized as having been freely given and daily we are responding with a wholehearted “YES!”.

Thank you very much for all that you are and do for us!

Reminders and Other Things

From Nurse Bunde:

Parents are reminded to contact the school nurse (mabunde@qopacademy.org) to report a student illness. Please do not send your children to school sick.  If a child has a fever, vomiting, and/or diarrhea along with a cough, sneezing, body aches, etc. he/she most likely has a contagious condition.  Until the student has been symptom-free (un-medicated) for 24 hours, he/she should not return to school.

If a child's medical file is delinquent, parents will be getting a formal letter very soon to request the information.  Failure to comply is not acceptable and may result in the child missing school.

The consent forms for the Flu Mist Vaccine were due by Sept. 24th.  Even if the student is not going to receive the vaccine, the forms must be returned indicating that the vaccine is being declined.  The form can be downloaded from the Alachua County Health Department's website.  It is a 2 page form.

The Hearing and Vision Screening will be done on December 2nd & 3rd.

From the Clothes Closet:
The Clothes Closet will be having another used uniform sale on September 27th before and after the 10:00 AM Mass in the hospitality area of the church.  This is a great time to get some cooler weather clothes.  This will be a CASH ONLY sale.
You can drop off your gently used uniforms in the school office between now and September 24th. Please do not send in stained uniforms, they will not be put out for the sale.  Use the question, “Would I buy that?”.
