RE:       Weekly Update

At the Blessing each day this month, we sing the response, “Open our hearts, Lord!”.

Open our hearts, Lord, to Your presence in our lives.

Open our hearts, Lord, to the way the Bible is leading us.

Open our hearts, Lord, to an awareness of the traditions in our Church.

Open our hearts, Lord, to the simple, yet powerful ways we can serve others.

Open our hearts, Lord, to accept Your gifts, develop them and return them as gift to others.

Basically, we all want what is the best for ourselves and those we love.  We give wholeheartedly out of this love for our children.  We search for the best doctor, the challenging school, the creative dance studio, the strong athletic coach, the upbeat music instructor.  There is nothing that is too much or too tiring when love is involved.

And that is exactly how God feels about each and every one of us!  The key to this love, however, is an open heart which is receptive, willing and responsive.  Our God waits for the heart that bravely allows even a small space for miracles to happen.  Oh, yes, God’s love is unconditional.  And, oh, yes – you and God are an awesome team!

Join us in prayer for the remainder of this month, “Open our hearts, Lord!”  Add you own intentions, your own reason for desiring an open heart.  Add your struggles, your worries, your dreams.  Invite God in to share those with you, to make your world God’s world.  And, then, just wait for miracles to happen!  When they do, be brave and share them with someone else.

Reminders and Other Things

From Nurse Bunde:

FluMist 2nd Dose Information:

The 2nd Flu Shot Clinic has been scheduled for November 30 beginning at 10:30 AM.  All necessary forms should be returned to the Nurse’s Office ASAP.

In regard to the H1N1 Vaccination:  The Health Dept. and area pediatricians have the vaccine to give.  To find out whether your child is eligible to receive the vaccine, please contact the Health Dept.  There are two forms of the vaccine: “live attenuated”- in nasal spray form and “inactivated”-in shot form.  Please note that you may not be allowed to receive the live attenuated H1N1 Vaccine if you were given the FluMist Vaccine until 30 days have passed.  Also note that if a 2nd dose of the FluMist is to be given, you will have to wait another 30 days to receive the H1N1 nasal mist.  If you plan to get the H1N1 vaccine in shot form, there is no waiting period that I’m aware of.  Please refer to the Alachua County Health Dept or CDC website for the most accurate, up-to-date information.  Due to the current vaccination time line, we will not offer the H1N1 FluMist Clinic at QPCA.

* Although telephone calls are welcome, please make sure that all correspondence regarding health related issues be in writing also.  This allows for more accurate record keeping.

The Hearing and Vision Screening will be done on December 2nd & 3rd.
