RE: Weekly Update
The Spirit of Christmas is everywhere on this, our final school day, prior to the celebration of Jesus’ birth. Very early this morning, Santa arrived amidst cheers and waves, with a message for all the students. He reminded them of the gift of Jesus in our lives along with Santa’s great love for chocolate chip cookies! Excitement was everywhere! The need to touch and be near was everywhere! The spontaneous smiles could be seen everywhere! Expressions of love were everywhere!
While the younger children enjoyed this special visitor, the Middle School students experienced a different kind of presence. Together, in Walsh Hall, they prepared breakfast for one another and ate with one another. On the stage, under their tree, were approximately 1000 pairs of socks which, with the elementary students, they had collected to be given to Catholic Charities for those in need. The Middle School had formed teams, were assigned to a younger grade and competed with one another for the greatest number of socks. As it turned out, the classes were very close and all became winners. They all cheered one another as the number of socks was revealed.
Without doubt, the Academy has formed a great faith community. Together with you, our parents, a very strong bond has been formed. Younger and older consistently give evidence of the love they have for one another. This is the spirit of Christmas and we have it!
Christmas blessings to all of you! May the celebration of Christ’s birth bring your family ever closer to one another and deeper in your relationship with God.
